Vegetable Oil Plant Automation
We worked with an end user and OEM to increase the quality and productivity of a vegerable oil plant through automation. The key focus was to improve consistency of their product, reduce waste and then increase output. They needed an interactive process information system that allowed the operator to visualize what was going on in their unit.
Our design team proposed using S7-300 and S7-400 and PCS7 based architecture to control Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) controlled using Profibus/Profinet communication protocols. We implemented ANSI/ISA-88 standards to model and program the sequential processes, units and controls. We developed a process analysis and reporting system to monitor their operations and to allow for remote monitoring.
The new system improved quality and productivity. Due to our modular design, maintenance and troubleshooting were easier. Operators had the information at their fingertips to better control quality. The information we provided reduced the time and costs of production problems.
